Considering Invisalign®? Read on to learn more about this discreet teeth-straightening treatment. Traditional metal braces are the first thing that comes to our minds when we think about orthodontic treatment. Yet, more and more people are shying away from braces because the metal wires and brackets tend to attract unwanted attention to our teeth. Invisalign braces are not like braces. Invisalign are a lot more discreet because they are hardly visible on the teeth.
What makes Invisalign discreet?
Invisalign's transparent aligners may offer a highly discreet and efficient solution for misaligned teeth. Rather than utilizing metal to construct the trays, thermoplastic is used. Rather than have the appearance of metal brackets and wires that show distinctly on the teeth, Invisalign aligners are clear.
The thin, clear aligner trays from Invisalign fit tightly over the teeth. They will be comfortable to wear while inducing the pressure required to move the teeth into a more appealing and straighter position since they are specifically designed to cover the patient's set of teeth.
A single aligner tray is not enough to move the teeth from their current positions to the desired position. Therefore, a sequence of trays is used, with each tray in the set following in the footsteps of the preceding one until the teeth are in their final positions. By the end of the treatment, the patient will have a straighter set of teeth, with the added benefit of renewed confidence in their look.
The treatment duration is determined by the nature and severity of the problem. Invisalign may correct issues like bite misalignments, protrusion, gaps, and crookedness. Still, since each treatment is personalized, the dentist will need to check the teeth before having an idea of how long it will take.
To get straight teeth within the anticipated treatment period, patients must wear the aligner trays directly, typically for about 20 to 22 hours daily, but they can take them out to eat and brush their teeth. Patients will be able to clean their teeth thoroughly since the aligners are removable.
Adults and teenagers may both benefit from Invisalign
When a teenager needs to undergo teeth straightening, they might be bothered about the conspicuousness of braces and their effect on their social lives. With Invisalign, they can straighten their teeth discreetly and not feel embarrassed by the presence of brackets and wires on their teeth.
Also, it is possible to track compliance with the aligners to verify that they have been worn for the appropriate number of hours each day and that the trays are working as they should. This is accomplished via a blue dot indication located on one side of the aligner tray. The indicator shows if it is time to switch to a new tray within the calculated period.
